What is the NEET PG Stray Round?

The NEET PG Stray Vacancy Round is the final round of seat allotment for postgraduate medical courses, conducted to fill unoccupied seats in various medical colleges across India. It is specifically designed for candidates who remained unallocated after the mop-up round.

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the eligibility criteria for the NEET PG 2024 stray vacancy round, aimed at filling remaining seats in postgraduate medical programs. Candidates not holding any seats in either the All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota are eligible to participate. However, those who joined seats allotted through MCC in Round 3 are ineligible for this round. Candidates who did not report in Round 3 can participate in state PG counselling, but those who have joined state quota seats in earlier rounds cannot participate in the MCC’s stray vacancy round.
  • The revised counselling schedule is as follows:
Event Dates
Registration and Payment February 12 to 16, 2025
Choice Filling and Locking February 13 to 16, 2025
Seat Allotment Processing February 17 to 18, 2025
Result Announcement February 19, 2025
Reporting to Allotted Institutes February 20 to 28, 2025
  • It’s important to note that candidates who do not join their allotted seats in the stray vacancy round will lose their security deposit and will be disqualified from appearing in the NEET exam the following year. Additionally, data of candidates who have joined seats in Round 3 will be shared with state counselling authorities, and such candidates will be prohibited from participating in subsequent state counselling rounds.
